BOWL 205 ~ SIGNATURE TORIPAITAN. MENSHO SYDNEY.

Hype.
It is a dangerous thing.
A blessing and a curse.

Mensho started in 2005 by Ramen Boss; Tomoharu Shono.
Mensho has several flagship stores in Japan.

They also have the 'Michelin recognised' store in San Francisco, USA. (NB: no official star has been given out as yet)

Mensho also have stores in Arizona, New Delhi, Shangai, Melbourne. And now...Sydney!

Opened for dinner only a month ago...but now also lunch is on offer which is where I started today.

The wait queues have been kind of nuts...it is what hype can do to a place...so be prepared to line up friends!

After a 45 minute wait, I got a seat at the bar which was so cool to watch all the action!

Ordered their 'Signature Tori Paitan' (rich, thick, creamy, Chicken broth). It has 3 types of chashu; pork, chicken and duck. Kinoko menma, spinach, truffle paste, enoki chips, green onion, chocolate wagyu (whatever that is?!). At a sizeable $32, it is actually one of the cheaper bowls on the menu.

Broth was incredibly flavourful and umami laden. Very creamy and whipped up just before serving with a milkshake wand.
Toppings were all supreme too.

Unfortunately the noodles really let this down for me...I was watching the kitchen staff prepare the bowls and there was no communication as they were so slammed they were just trying to churn out the bowls super fast, so the cooked noodles would just sit on edge of the water tank getting soggy whilst the broth was still being worked on...meant the noodles were waaaay over cooked.

Closed Mondays.
Open Tuesday through to Sunday.
Lunch 12-3pm
Dinner 5-10pm
